In 2017 election of Paiyun Rural Municipality (Parbat district), candidate Khagendra Prasad Tiwari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,431 (54.10%) votes out of total votes of 6,342 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Mitralal Basyal of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,454 (25.11%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 457 (3.60) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Jasmati Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,168 (50.49%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Gomata Kumari Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,484 (26.31%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 622 (4.96) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 121 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 75 (61.98%) males and 46 (38.02%) females. Moreover, there were total 25 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 49 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 19 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
