In 2017 election of Omsatiya Rural Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Hira Kewat of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,442 (20.39%) votes out of total votes of 11,975 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Manjit Kumar Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 2,311 (16.03%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 7,222 (30.15) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sundarmati Kumari Harijan of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,264 (19.57%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Amrita Upreti of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,172 (15.70%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 7,130 (30.82) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 206 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 119 (57.77%) males and 87 (42.23%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 38 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
