In 2017 election of Naraha Rural Municipality (Siraha district), candidate Ram Sharan Yadav of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,656 (23.68%) votes out of total votes of 6,992 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ram Swogarath Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 1,478 (17.09%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,858 (27.59) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Gulab Devi Chaudhary of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,855 (28.72%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sanjila Kumari Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 1,333 (16.04%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,270 (25.32) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 184 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 104 (56.52%) males and 80 (43.48%) females. Moreover, there were total 36 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 65 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 32 females and 33 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
