In 2017 election of Namobuddha Municipality (Kavrepalanchok district), candidate Tanka Prasad Sharma of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,346 (36.61%) votes out of total votes of 14,602 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Kunsang Lama of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,961 (24.87%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 4,295 (14.71) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Ram Devi Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,147 (36.05%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Kamala Khanal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,411 (22.71%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 4,721 (16.53) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 233 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 145 (62.23%) males and 88 (37.77%) females. Moreover, there were total 54 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 86 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 41 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
