In 2017 election of Miklajung Rural Municipality (Morang district), candidate Devi Prasad Acharya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,229 (42.62%) votes out of total votes of 12,270 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Man Bahadur Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,605 (20.60%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,436 (14.00) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sarala Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,083 (42.03%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Aratai Devi Pokharel of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,625 (21.10%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,387 (14.00) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 186 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 112 (60.22%) males and 74 (39.78%) females. Moreover, there were total 36 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 71 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 36 females and 31 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
