Melauli is a Municipality, which is located in Baitadi district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Melauli has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 119 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Melauli Municipality had total population of 22,545.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Melauli Municipality had total 22,545 population with 10,434 males and 12,111 females. Out of total wards, ward number 1 had the largest population 3,669, while ward number 4 had least number of population with 3,669.
With respect to number of households, Melauli Municipality had total 3,947 households. The ward number 1 had most households with total 636, while ward number 4 had least number of households with total 294 number of households.

There were only 12,723 people fully literate in Melauli Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 492 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 7,506 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Melauli Municipality, total 3,780 males and 3,726 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 2,635 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 904 male and 1,731 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 1.01 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.52.The CBS census also states that 88 males and 138 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 17,137 in Melauli Municipality with 8,451 (49.31%) of males and 8,686 (50.69%) females. There were total 47 schools. In average, 365 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Melauli is Baitadeli, which is spoken by 22,220 people. The Melauli has people who speak other languages, such as Nepali, Doteli, Bhojpuri, etc.

There were as little as Dhanuk caste with population of as little as 18 in total. People of several other castes who live in Melauli are Brahmin - Hill, Lohar, Thakuri, Kami, Sudhi, Kathbaniyan, Damai/Dholi, Gurung, Sarki, Undefined Others, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Terai Others, Dhanuk, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total 3947 households in Melauli Municipality, there were 3,897 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 20 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 0 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 3houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 3,704 houses were mud bonded, 204 houses were cement bonded, 9 houses were wood planks bonded, 0 houses were bamboo bonded and 0 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

out of 3,947 households in Melauli Municipality, 1,086 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 2,734 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 353 establishments in Melauli Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,039 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 738 and female engagement of 301 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.94 people engaged with average males are 2.09 and females are 0.85. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 2.45, which means as many as 2.45 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 71.03 percent while the females are 28.97 percent.
