In 2017 election of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality (Lamjung district), candidate Arjun Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,712 (55.10%) votes out of total votes of 8,551 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Nar Bahadur Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,811 (28.73%) of votes. The rest of 1 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 28 (0.16) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Hom Bahadur B.k of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,156 (59.46%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Dudh Kashi Tamang of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) secured 2,788 (25.01%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 46 (0.33) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 94 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 57 (60.64%) males and 37 (39.36%) females. Moreover, there were total 18 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 36 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 16 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
