Malikarjun is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Darchula district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Malikarjun has total 8 wards, which are scattered across 101 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Malikarjun Rural Municipality had total population of 15,581.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Malikarjun Rural Municipality had total 15,581 population with 7,239 males and 8,342 females. Out of total wards, ward number 8 had the largest population 2,981, while ward number 1 had least number of population with 2,981.
With respect to number of households, Malikarjun Rural Municipality had total 3,096 households. The ward number 8 had most households with total 600, while ward number 1 had least number of households with total 205 number of households.

Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 9,535 people fully literate in Malikarjun Rural Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 261 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 4,593 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Malikarjun Rural Municipality, total 2,279 males and 2,314 females were attending the school. Mostly spoken language in Malikarjun is Doteli, which is spoken by 15,366 people. The Malikarjun has people who speak other languages, such as Nepali, Hindi, Baitadeli, etc.

There were as little as Magar caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Malikarjun are Brahmin - Hill, Thakuri, Kami, Dalit Others, Lohar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Damai/Dholi, Pahari, Newar, Magar, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Household Foundation
Out of total 3096 households in Malikarjun Rural Municipality, there were 2,980 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 79 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 9 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 19houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 2,565 houses were mud bonded, 482 houses were cement bonded, 31 houses were wood planks bonded, 7 houses were bamboo bonded and 3 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 393 establishments in Malikarjun Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,192 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 850 and female engagement of 342 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.03 people engaged with average males are 2.16 and females are 0.87. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 2.49, which means as many as 2.49 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 71.31 percent while the females are 28.69 percent.
