In 2017 election of Mahashila Rural Municipality (Parbat district), candidate Raju Prasad Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,453 (52.66%) votes out of total votes of 4,658 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Krishna Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,010 (28.27%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 195 (2.09) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Hira Kumari Rana of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,483 (53.42%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Srijana Malla of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,951 (27.36%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 214 (2.30) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 87 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 52 (59.77%) males and 35 (40.23%) females. Moreover, there were total 18 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 30 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 15 females and 16 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
