Mahakali is a Municipality, which is located in Kanchanpur district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Mahakali has total 10 wards, which are scattered across 57 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Mahakali Municipality had total population of 39,253.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Mahakali Municipality had total 39,253 population with 18,130 males and 21,123 females. Out of total wards, ward number 7 had the largest population 5,109, while ward number 5 had least number of population with 5,109.
With respect to number of households, Mahakali Municipality had total 7,392 households. The ward number 7 had most households with total 1,001, while ward number 5 had least number of households with total 436 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.86, which indicates that Mahakali Municipality had 14 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 5.31, which means that in average 5.31 family members lived in each household.

In terms of age, the largest population in Mahakali Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 5,805. Gender wise, there were 2,919 males and 2,886 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 497 population, which consistes of 245 males and 252 females. Similarly, age-group 25 to 29 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.63. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 24,676 people fully literate in Mahakali Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 630 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 12,839 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Mahakali Municipality, total 6,456 males and 6,383 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 5,109 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 1,914 male and 3,195 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 1.01 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.60.The CBS census also states that 155 males and 260 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.
Grade 1-12 Students & Schools
According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 6,045 in Mahakali Municipality with 2,852 (47.18%) of males and 3,193 (52.82%) females. There were total 42 schools. In average, 144 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Mahakali is Nepali, which is spoken by 21,143 people. The Mahakali has people who speak other languages, such as Doteli, Bajureli, Baitadeli, Bajhangi, Magar, Achhami, Dailekhi, Gurung, Maithili, Darchuleli, Limbu, Hindi, Jumli, Sign Language, Bangla, Bhojpuri, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Mahakali Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 13,668. There were as little as Sunuwar caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Mahakali are Kami, Brahmin - Hill, Magar, Thakuri, Damai/Dholi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sarki, Gurung, Dalit Others, Lohar, Badi, Newar, Kumal, Limbu, Terai Others, Bangali, Rai, Thami, Foreigner, Tamang, Dhanuk, Tharu, Gharti/Bhujel, Sunuwar, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total population of 39,253, there were total 869 (2.21%) disabled persons in Mahakali Municipality with 424 (48.79%) males and 445 (51.21%) females. The physically disabled persons were 298, while mentally disabled people were 32 and intellectually disabled were 12.
Similarly, there were 169 people who were blind and 145 people were deaf, while 15 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 109 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 89 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
Out of total 7392 households in Mahakali Municipality, there were 754 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 3,599 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 42 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 2,914houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 476 houses were mud bonded, 3,215 houses were cement bonded, 994 houses were wood planks bonded, 1,919 houses were bamboo bonded and 8 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 3,249 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 1,412 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 574 houses had roof of tile, 1,994 houses had RCC roofs, 29 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. With reference to source of fuel, 6,310 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 67 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 71 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (12), bio-gas (882), fuel electricity (1), etc.
Same as, total 3,768 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 3,364, while 84 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.51.

out of 7,392 households in Mahakali Municipality, 1,364 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 5,913 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Bicycle was used by the maximum households with total users of 4,594, while Radio was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 3,382.
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 816 establishments in Mahakali Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,468 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,644 and female engagement of 824 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.02 people engaged with average males are 2.01 and females are 1.01. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 2.00, which means as many as 2.00 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 66.61 percent while the females are 33.39 percent.
