In 2017 election of Madi Rural Municipality (Kaski district), candidate Bed Bahadur Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,637 (51.69%) votes out of total votes of 8,971 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Devi Jung Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,653 (26.84%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 681 (3.80) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bishnu Maya Acharya (paudel) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,523 (51.06%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Parbashree Gurung of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,131 (23.40%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,204 (6.80) of votes.

Moreover, there were total 35 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 12 wards.
