In 2017 election of Loharpatti Municipality (Mahottari district), candidate Shailendra Kumar Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,523 (39.49%) votes out of total votes of 11,453 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Habib Raen of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) who secured 2,929 (18.33%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 4,001 (17.47) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Sarita Sharma of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,592 (43.63%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Nisha Shah of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 3,103 (20.53%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 2,829 (13.44) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 208 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 136 (65.38%) males and 72 (34.62%) females. Moreover, there were total 50 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 33 females and 34 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
