In 2017 election of Likhu Rural Municipality (Okhaldhunga district), candidate Govinda Bahadur Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,010 (42.20%) votes out of total votes of 7,133 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ashok Kumar Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,935 (28.94%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,188 (8.33) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Shanta Dhungel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,110 (44.20%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Mandira Dahal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,438 (24.03%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,488 (10.57) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 142 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 86 (60.56%) males and 56 (39.44%) females. Moreover, there were total 29 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 52 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 26 females and 26 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
