In 2017 election of Laxmipur Patari Rural Municipality (Siraha district), candidate Ram Ballam Shah of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 4,004 (36.93%) votes out of total votes of 10,841 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Chaturananda Thakur of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,254 (21.92%) of votes. The rest of 8 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,583 (16.53) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Asha Devi Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,646 (34.31%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Amar Kala Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,371 (23.62%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,609 (16.98) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 164 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 96 (58.54%) males and 68 (41.46%) females. Moreover, there were total 31 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 59 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 29 females and 30 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
