In 2017 election of Laxminiya Rural Municipality (Dhanusa district), candidate Bindeshwor Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,504 (35.94%) votes out of total votes of 9,750 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Kumar Kant Jha of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,360 (17.81%) of votes. The rest of 14 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 3,886 (19.93) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Indrakala Devi Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,195 (35.58%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Ramraji Devi Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,332 (19.15%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,454 (19.23) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 201 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 129 (64.18%) males and 72 (35.82%) females. Moreover, there were total 47 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 68 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 31 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
