In 2017 election of Lamkichuha Municipality (Kailali district), candidate Mahadev Bajgain of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 7,188 (28.33%) votes out of total votes of 25,375 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Bhakta Bahadur Thapa of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 6,521 (20.03%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 11,666 (22.99) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Tika Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 7,907 (32.06%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Dhan Devi Tharuni of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 5,908 (18.14%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 10,851 (22.00) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 306 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 171 (55.88%) males and 135 (44.12%) females. Moreover, there were total 66 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 116 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 56 females and 51 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
