In 2017 election of Lamahi Municipality (Dang district), candidate Kul Bhadur Khatri Chhetri of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 5,152 (31.94%) votes out of total votes of 16,130 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Jograj Chaudhary of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 5,069 (23.82%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 5,909 (18.32) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Devaka Belbase of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,015 (31.44%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Mina Devi Gurung of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,843 (23.10%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 6,091 (19.10) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 265 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 163 (61.51%) males and 102 (38.49%) females. Moreover, there were total 61 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 97 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 49 females and 41 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
