In 2017 election of Laljhadi Rural Municipality (Kanchanpur district), candidate Madan Sen Wadayek of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,896 (35.88%) votes out of total votes of 8,071 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Nirmal Rana of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,621 (23.90%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,554 (15.82) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Satya Devi Mahara of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,758 (34.69%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sunita Devi Chaudhary of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,469 (23.06%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,724 (17.13) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 139 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 82 (58.99%) males and 57 (41.01%) females. Moreover, there were total 27 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
