In 2017 election of Lalitpur Metropolitan City (Lalitpur district), candidate Chiri Babu Maharjan of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 24,642 (32.81%) votes out of total votes of 75,114 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Hari Krishna Byanjankar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 24,316 (24.38%) of votes. The rest of 12 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 26,156 (17.41) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Geeta Satyal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 19,819 (33.13%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Shobha Shakya of Independent (Ind) secured 14,240 (17.88%) of votes and came in second position. Other 9 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 25,759 (21.53) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 621 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 411 (66.18%) males and 210 (33.82%) females. Moreover, there were total 156 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 29 wards. Same as, total 261 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 125 females and 54 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
