In 2017 election of Kummayak Rural Municipality (Panchthar district), candidate Jaya Bahadur Chemjong of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,226 (57.21%) votes out of total votes of 5,639 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bam Prasad Lawati of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,003 (22.59%) of votes. The rest of 1 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 410 (3.64) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sita Acharya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,285 (68.98%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Jit Bahadur Aguwa of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) secured 1,138 (14.14%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 339 (3.56) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 93 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 60 (64.52%) males and 33 (35.48%) females. Moreover, there were total 18 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 37 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 17 females and 14 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
