In 2017 election of Kotahimai Rural Municipality (Rupandehi district), candidate Chandra Bhusan Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,311 (25.61%) votes out of total votes of 12,927 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Birendra Kalwar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,189 (19.64%) of votes. The rest of 13 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 6,427 (24.86) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bhanmati Baniya of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 3,026 (26.08%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sampati Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,621 (17.92%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 5,956 (25.67) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 275 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 171 (62.18%) males and 104 (37.82%) females. Moreover, there were total 63 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 95 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 48 females and 45 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
