In 2017 election of Khijidemba Rural Municipality (Okhaldhunga district), candidate Bed Bahadur Roka of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,965 (48.92%) votes out of total votes of 6,061 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Lakpa Golbu Sherpa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,361 (26.16%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 735 (6.06) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sushila Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,124 (52.46%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Parbati Roka of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,111 (23.25%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 720 (6.05) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 170 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 101 (59.41%) males and 69 (40.59%) females. Moreover, there were total 33 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 63 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 32 females and 28 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
