In 2017 election of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality (Dhading district), candidate Ran Bahadur Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,646 (38.31%) votes out of total votes of 4,296 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Pradip Phyuba Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 971 (16.34%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,679 (19.54) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Yo Maya Tamang of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 1,665 (46.02%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sushma Tamang of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 917 (17.36%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,036 (14.32) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 117 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 76 (64.96%) males and 41 (35.04%) females. Moreover, there were total 28 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 5 wards. Same as, total 42 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 18 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
