In 2017 election of Kepilasgadhi Rural Municipality (Khotang district), candidate Krishna Kumar Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,806 (36.35%) votes out of total votes of 4,969 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Samir Rai of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,511 (22.30%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,652 (16.62) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Hira Kumari Ban of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 1,774 (36.29%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Rudra Kumar Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,366 (20.50%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,749 (17.89) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 137 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 83 (60.58%) males and 54 (39.42%) females. Moreover, there were total 28 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
