In 2017 election of Kaudena Rural Municipality (Sarlahi district), candidate Ram Prasad Raya Yadav of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 3,542 (39.56%) votes out of total votes of 8,954 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Rupesh Kumar of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 3,000 (24.01%) of votes. The rest of 6 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,412 (13.47) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sunita Devi of Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RasJPN) secured 3,529 (38.90%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Indra Kala Devi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,949 (23.40%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,594 (14.30) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 155 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 100 (64.52%) males and 55 (35.48%) females. Moreover, there were total 41 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 24 females and 25 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
