There were 30,524 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Kathmandu District, Constituency No. 8. The candidte of Nepali Congress Party - Nabindra Raj Joshi secured 11,005 (36.05%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Asta Laxmi Shakya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 6,878 (22.53%) votes and came in second position. The difference in votes of Nabindra Raj Joshi and Asta Laxmi Shakya was 4,127. All other candidates secured 12,641 (41.41%) votes.
