In 2017 election of Kapurkot Rural Municipality (Salyan district), candidate Bhim Bahadur Sen of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,152 (45.99%) votes out of total votes of 6,854 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Prakash Bharari of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 2,135 (21.34%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 1,567 (11.43) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Tila Budha Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,179 (47.13%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Alina Rana of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 1,868 (18.82%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 1,698 (12.59) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 110 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 67 (60.91%) males and 43 (39.09%) females. Moreover, there were total 22 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 41 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 20 females and 18 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
