Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Kapilvastu Municipality had total 76,394 population with 38,085 males and 38,309 females. Out of total wards, ward number 3 had the largest population 8,747, while ward number 12 had least number of population with 8,747.
With respect to number of households, Kapilvastu Municipality had total 12,094 households. The ward number 3 had most households with total 1,525, while ward number 12 had least number of households with total 568 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.99, which indicates that Kapilvastu Municipality had 1 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 6.32, which means that in average 6.32 family members lived in each household.
Absentee Population

Population by Age Group
Gender wise, top 5 most age groups male population were between 10 and 14 (5,412), between 5 and 9 (5,253), between 15 and 19 (4,315), below 4 (4,123), and between 20 and 24 (2,856), with total population of 21,959. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (500), between 70 and 74 (649), between 65 and 69 (866),between 60 and 64 (1,130), and between 55 and 59 (1,192), with total population of 4,337. With regards to female population, top 5 age groups females were between 10 and 14 (5,069), between 5 and 9 (4,838), between 15 and 19 (4,320), below 4 (4,020), and between 20 and 24 (3,481), with total population of 21,728. In contrast, bottom 5 least age group male population were above 75 (458), between 70 and 74 (496), between 65 and 69 (725),between 55 and 59 (1,075), and between 60 and 64 (1,110), with total population of 3,864.
The population with age-group 70 to 74 had male to female ratio of 1.31, which states that this age group had maximum males as compared to females. Similarly, age-group 30 to 34 had most female population as compared to male population with male to female ratio of 0.80. The age-groups 70 to 74, 65 to 69, 55 to 59, 5 to 9, above 75, 10 to 14, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, below 4, 60 to 64 had majority of male population while age-groups 40 to 44, 35 to 39, 25 to 29, 20 to 24, 30 to 34 had majority of female population as per male-female ratios. Moreover, age-groups 15 to 19 had eqivalent or almost equal numbers of male and female population with male-female ratios of 1.

Population Ratios
There were 57.58 % (43,985 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 37.59 % with total number of 28,715. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.84 % with total number of 3,694. As such, total dependent population including children and elderly people were 42.42 with total number of 32,409
There were 19,203 women of child-bearing age-group of 15 to 49 years. Same as, the todlers or children of 4 years or below were 8,143. The ratio of woman of child-bearing age and the number of todlers state that, approximately 424 children were born per 1,000 women. This number is also roughly used as fertility levels when direct measures of births are not available.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Kapilvastu is Avadhi, which is spoken by 48,735 people. The Kapilvastu has people who speak other languages, such as Urdu, Nepali, Tharu, Maithili, Magar, Newar, Bhojpuri, Doteli, Hindi, Uranw/Urau, Gurung, Rai, Yakkha, Punjabi, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Kapilvastu Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Muslim caste with total population of 13,934. There were as little as Sonar caste with population of as little as 12 in total. People of several other castes who live in Kapilvastu are Yadav, Brahmin - Hill, Kurmi, Kahar, Tharu, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Chhetri, Dusadh/Pasawan/Pasi, Kewat, Kathbaniyan, Teli, Kori, Baraee, Dhobi, Hajam/Thakur, Brahmin - Tarai, Dalit Others, Haluwai, Kami, Magar, Terai Others, Badhaee, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Kayastha, Mallaha, Kalwar, Lohar, Dhanuk, Kanu, Newar, Koiri/Kushwaha, Damai/Dholi, Gaderi/Bhedhar, Dhunia, Bangali, Gurung, Thakuri, Rajbhar, Marwadi, Sarki, Foreigner, Gharti/Bhujel, Mali, Badi, Kumal, Dhankar/Kharikar, Lodh, Pattharkatta/Kushwadiya, Dhandi, Majhi, Jhangad/Dhagar, Rajput, Tamang, Rai, Janajati Others, Yakkha, Undefined Others, Kumhar, Musahar, Sonar, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.
Top five castes of people in Kapilvastu Municipality are Muslim (13,934), Yadav (8,989), Brahmin - Hill (6,005), Kurmi (5,179) and Kahar (3,719) with total population of 37,826, which forms 49.51 percent out of total population of 76,394 in Kapilvastu Municipality.Population by Disability
Similarly, there were 119 people who were blind and 73 people were deaf, while 11 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 82 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 70 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
With respect to wall of the houses, 6,059 houses were mud bonded, 3,824 houses were cement bonded, 192 houses were wood planks bonded, 973 houses were bamboo bonded and 217 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 2,348 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 336 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 715 houses had roof of tile, 8,365 houses had RCC roofs, 92 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 8,463 out of 12,094 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,702 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 825 houses reported having ordinary toilets.
Utilities
With reference to source of fuel, 5,782 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 148 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 1,594 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (4,051), bio-gas (371), fuel electricity (4), etc.
Same as, total 8,123 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 3,693, while 38 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.67.
Facilities
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,986 establishments in Kapilvastu Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 5,144 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 3,920 and female engagement of 1,224 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.59 people engaged with average males are 1.97 and females are 0.62. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 3.20, which means as many as 3.20 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 76.21 percent while the females are 23.79 percent.
