In 2017 election of Kalimati Rural Municipality (Salyan district), candidate Dan Bahadur Khatri K.c of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,912 (36.90%) votes out of total votes of 7,891 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Purushottam Bhattarai of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 2,363 (21.87%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,616 (16.58) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sansilta Oli (d.c) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,944 (37.41%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Priti B.c. D.c of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,366 (21.88%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,559 (16.26) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 142 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 87 (61.27%) males and 55 (38.73%) females. Moreover, there were total 29 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 7 wards. Same as, total 55 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 26 females and 24 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
