In 2017 election of Kailash Rural Municipality (Makwanpur district), candidate Tanka Bahadur Moktan of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,802 (34.50%) votes out of total votes of 8,122 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Lok Bahadur Muktan of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,359 (21.59%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,961 (18.23) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Suku Maya Thing of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,800 (35.25%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Mira Syangtan of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,425 (22.57%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,718 (17.11) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 200 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 124 (62.00%) males and 76 (38.00%) females. Moreover, there were total 41 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 10 wards. Same as, total 79 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 38 females and 31 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
