In 2017 election of Kageshwori Manohara Municipality (Kathmandu district), candidate Krishna Hari Thapa of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 8,969 (42.74%) votes out of total votes of 20,983 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Upendra Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 8,487 (28.34%) of votes. The rest of 9 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 3,527 (8.40) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Bindu Pudasaini of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 9,182 (44.49%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Anita Adhikari (thapa) of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 8,296 (27.82%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,160 (7.66) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 216 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 136 (62.96%) males and 80 (37.04%) females. Moreover, there were total 51 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 75 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 37 females and 36 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
