In 2017 election of Jeetpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City (Bara district), candidate Krishna Prasad Paudel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 14,865 (35.46%) votes out of total votes of 41,925 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Krishnabart Singh of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 11,995 (21.12%) of votes. The rest of 14 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 15,065 (17.97) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Sawaswati Devi Chaudhary of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 14,449 (34.61%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Narayani Rayamajhi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 12,495 (22.23%) of votes and came in second position. Other 7 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 14,805 (17.73) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 560 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 326 (58.21%) males and 234 (41.79%) females. Moreover, there were total 125 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 24 wards. Same as, total 212 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 105 females and 93 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
