In 2017 election of Jayaprithvi Municipality (Bajhang district), candidate Birendra Bahadur Khadka of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,040 (41.42%) votes out of total votes of 7,339 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Chetraj Bajal of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 2,960 (28.52%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 1,339 (9.12) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Juna Kumari Jagri of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,415 (47.77%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Amrita Devi Singh of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,931 (27.75%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 803 (5.62) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 166 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 104 (62.65%) males and 62 (37.35%) females. Moreover, there were total 37 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 11 wards. Same as, total 64 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 30 females and 28 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
