In 2017 election of Janaknandini Rural Municipality (Dhanusa district), candidate Abdul Warik Shesh of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,717 (30.43%) votes out of total votes of 8,928 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Dipin Dev Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) who secured 2,180 (18.72%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,031 (22.58) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Bharati Karki of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,051 (35.55%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Riku Kumari Yadav of Snghiy Samajbadi Form Nepal (SanSFN) secured 1,965 (16.89%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 3,567 (20.78) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 184 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 113 (61.41%) males and 71 (38.59%) females. Moreover, there were total 41 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 65 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 27 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
