Janaki is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Kailali district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Janaki has total 9 wards, which are scattered across 107 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Janaki Rural Municipality had total population of 48,540.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Janaki Rural Municipality had total 48,540 population with 22,956 males and 25,584 females. Out of total wards, ward number 9 had the largest population 6,734, while ward number 6 had least number of population with 6,734.
With respect to number of households, Janaki Rural Municipality had total 9,051 households. The ward number 9 had most households with total 1,414, while ward number 6 had least number of households with total 757 number of households.

Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 28,585 people fully literate in Janaki Rural Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 890 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 15,416 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Janaki Rural Municipality, total 7,635 males and 7,781 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 6,072 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 2,456 male and 3,616 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.98 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.68.The CBS census also states that 291 males and 418 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 23,248 in Janaki Rural Municipality with 11,528 (49.59%) of males and 11,720 (50.41%) females. There were total 31 schools. In average, 750 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Janaki is Tharu, which is spoken by 29,168 people. The Janaki has people who speak other languages, such as Nepali, Achhami, Doteli, Dailekhi, Urdu, Magar, Maithili, Jumli, Bajureli, Hindi, Avadhi, Bhojpuri, Dadeldhuri, Khamchi(Raute), Khash, Sign Language, Gurung, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Janaki Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Tharu caste with total population of 29,317. There were as little as Kayastha caste with population of as little as 15 in total. People of several other castes who live in Janaki are Brahmin - Hill, Chhetri, Kami, Thakuri, Damai/Dholi, Magar, Lohar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sarki, Muslim, Dalit Others, Badi, Bangali, Gurung, Kumal, Newar, Terai Others, Teli, Hajam/Thakur, Kurmi, Tamang, Kayastha, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Household Foundation
Out of total 9051 households in Janaki Rural Municipality, there were 2,139 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 728 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 45 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 6,030houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 1,891 houses were mud bonded, 997 houses were cement bonded, 2,218 houses were wood planks bonded, 1,869 houses were bamboo bonded and 356 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,370 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 2,258 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 4,929 houses had roof of tile, 340 houses had RCC roofs, 84 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. out of 9,051 households in Janaki Rural Municipality, 848 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 8,064 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Bicycle was used by the maximum households with total users of 7,033, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 5,484.
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 878 establishments in Janaki Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,516 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,610 and female engagement of 906 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.87 people engaged with average males are 1.83 and females are 1.03. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.78, which means as many as 1.78 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 63.99 percent while the females are 36.01 percent.
