In 2017 election of Janaki Rural Municipality (Kailali district), candidate Pradip Kumar Chaudhary of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 5,067 (28.32%) votes out of total votes of 17,893 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ganga Devi Chaudhary of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 4,221 (18.38%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 8,605 (24.05) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Uma Mahato of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 5,097 (29.04%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Surya Bahadur Batala of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,030 (17.79%) of votes and came in second position. Other 6 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 8,423 (24.00) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 272 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 143 (52.57%) males and 129 (47.43%) females. Moreover, there were total 61 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 93 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 54 females and 47 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
