Ishma is a Rural Municipality, which is located in Gulmi district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Ishma has total 6 wards, which are scattered across 82 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Ishma Rural Municipality had total population of 20,964.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Ishma Rural Municipality had total 20,964 population with 8,908 males and 12,056 females. Out of total wards, ward number 4 had the largest population 4,124, while ward number 3 had least number of population with 4,124.
With respect to number of households, Ishma Rural Municipality had total 4,716 households. The ward number 4 had most households with total 852, while ward number 3 had least number of households with total 667 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.74, which indicates that Ishma Rural Municipality had 26 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 4.45, which means that in average 4.45 family members lived in each household.

In terms of age, the largest population in Ishma Rural Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 3,123. Gender wise, there were 1,479 males and 1,644 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 430 population, which consistes of 240 males and 190 females. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 11,869 people fully literate in Ishma Rural Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 306 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 6,761 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Ishma Rural Municipality, total 3,209 males and 3,552 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 2,318 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 760 male and 1,558 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.90 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.49.The CBS census also states that 11 males and 22 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 6,441 in Ishma Rural Municipality with 3,236 (50.24%) of males and 3,205 (49.76%) females. There were total 44 schools. In average, 146 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Ishma is Nepali, which is spoken by 20,891 people. The Ishma has people who speak other languages, such as Newar, Magar, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Ishma Rural Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Chhetri caste with total population of 8,218. There were as little as Muslim caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Ishma are Kumal, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Sarki, Magar, Damai/Dholi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Gharti/Bhujel, Gurung, Newar, Thakuri, Gaine, Terai Others, Badi, Muslim, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Household Foundation
Out of total 4716 households in Ishma Rural Municipality, there were 4,619 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 27 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 6 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 57houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 4,595 houses were mud bonded, 46 houses were cement bonded, 27 houses were wood planks bonded, 39 houses were bamboo bonded and 1 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 964 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 990 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 2,733 houses had roof of tile, 19 houses had RCC roofs, 2 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.
With respect to the toilets, 1,021 out of 4,716 houses didn't report of having a private toilet for their households. Nevertheless, 2,394 houses were reported of having flush toilet while 1,297 houses reported having ordinary toilets.

With reference to source of fuel, 4,668 households reported their source of fuel as firewood while 10 households had kerosene as their fuel source. The LP gas was used by 24 households as a source of fuel. Moreover, other sources of fuel were cow dung (5), bio-gas (5), fuel electricity (0), etc.
Same as, total 1,553 households had reported of having electricity as the source of their household's lighting. The households still using kerosene as source of light were 1,781, while 1,204 households used solar energy as source of lights. Total 0 households also reported of using bio-gas as a source of light. The ratio of use of electricity as compared to other source of light was 0.33.

out of 4,716 households in Ishma Rural Municipality, 879 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 3,791 households reported of using at least one facility. Households using at least one facility, such as radio, television, internet, etc. have been illustrated in the table below.Radio was used by the maximum households with total users of 3,509, while MobilePhone was the next mostly used facilities with total household users of 2,389.
Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 606 establishments in Ishma Rural Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 1,307 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 697 and female engagement of 610 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.16 people engaged with average males are 1.15 and females are 1.01. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.14, which means as many as 1.14 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 53.33 percent while the females are 46.67 percent.
