In 2017 election of Hariharpurgadhi Rural Municipality (Sindhuli district), candidate Karsang Lama of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,934 (42.20%) votes out of total votes of 9,322 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Man Bahadur Waiba of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,954 (22.28%) of votes. The rest of 2 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,434 (13.06) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Anita Kumari Rai of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 3,918 (42.23%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Tshiring Maya Lama of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,990 (22.66%) of votes and came in second position. Other 1 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,369 (12.77) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 131 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 80 (61.07%) males and 51 (38.93%) females. Moreover, there were total 25 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 51 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 25 females and 23 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
