There were 40,256 votes casted during 2008 Constituent Assembly elections in Gulmi District, Constituency No. 3. The candidte of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) - Chandra Bahadur Thapa secured 16,581 (41.19%) votes and secured victory in the election. The runner-up candidate was Gokarna Raj Bista of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) who secured 14,543 (36.13%) votes and came in second position. The difference in votes of Chandra Bahadur Thapa and Gokarna Raj Bista was 2,038. All other candidates secured 9,132 (22.68%) votes.
