Ghorahi is a Sub-Metropolitan City, which is located in Dang district, Province No. 5 of Nepal. Ghorahi has total 19 wards, which are scattered across 522 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City had total population of 156,164.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City had total 156,164 population with 72,329 males and 83,835 females. Out of total wards, ward number 15 had the largest population 19,757, while ward number 1 had least number of population with 19,757.
With respect to number of households, Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City had total 35,419 households. The ward number 15 had most households with total 5,607, while ward number 1 had least number of households with total 1,139 number of households.

Gender wise, there were 11,039 males and 10,892 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 1,766 population, which consistes of 841 males and 925 females. There were only 104,069 people fully literate in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 2,659 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 47,903 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, total 23,672 males and 24,231 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 17,415 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 6,733 male and 10,682 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.98 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.63.The CBS census also states that 547 males and 773 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 6,860 in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City with 3,386 (49.36%) of males and 3,474 (50.64%) females. There were total 176 schools. In average, 39 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Ghorahi is Nepali, which is spoken by 111,669 people. The Ghorahi has people who speak other languages, such as Tharu, Kham, Magar, Hindi, Newar, Urdu, Avadhi, Maithili, Bhojpuri, Gurung, Tamang, Doteli, Sign Language, etc.

There were as little as Bangali caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Ghorahi are Chhetri, Magar, Brahmin - Hill, Kami, Damai/Dholi, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Sarki, Newar, Thakuri, Muslim, Dalit Others, Haluwai, Badi, Gurung, Gaine, Kumal, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Kathbaniyan, Terai Others, Tamang, Kori, Gharti/Bhujel, Yadav, Rai, Lhomi, Teli, Musahar, Brahmin - Tarai, Kurmi, Limbu, Kalwar, Lohar, Majhi, Dhanuk, Hajam/Thakur, Marwadi, Undefined Others, Koiri/Kushwaha, Chhantyal/Chhantel, Mallaha, Bote, Foreigner, Baraee, Bangali, Kewat, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total population of 156,164, there were total 4,033 (2.58%) disabled persons in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City with 2,142 (53.11%) males and 1,891 (46.89%) females. The physically disabled persons were 1,241, while mentally disabled people were 158 and intellectually disabled were 86.
Similarly, there were 739 people who were blind and 664 people were deaf, while 513 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 388 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 244 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
Out of total 35419 households in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, there were 25,951 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 3,846 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 4,391 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 656houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 18,200 houses were mud bonded, 8,659 houses were cement bonded, 213 houses were wood planks bonded, 578 houses were bamboo bonded and 7,385 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.

out of 35,419 households in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City, 3,147 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 31,670 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 5,219 establishments in Ghorahi Sub-Metropolitan City that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 17,846 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 10,673 and female engagement of 7,173 persons.In every business, there were an average of 3.42 people engaged with average males are 2.05 and females are 1.37. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.49, which means as many as 1.49 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 59.81 percent while the females are 40.19 percent.
