Gauriganga is a Municipality, which is located in Kailali district, Sudurpashchim Province of Nepal. Gauriganga has total 11 wards, which are scattered across 244 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gauriganga Municipality had total population of 55,314.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Gauriganga Municipality had total 55,314 population with 26,121 males and 29,193 females. Out of total wards, ward number 1 had the largest population 6,668, while ward number 10 had least number of population with 6,668.
With respect to number of households, Gauriganga Municipality had total 10,072 households. The ward number 1 had most households with total 1,280, while ward number 10 had least number of households with total 585 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.89, which indicates that Gauriganga Municipality had 11 percent lower males as compared to the females. Same as, the population to household ratio was 5.49, which means that in average 5.49 family members lived in each household.

In terms of age, the largest population in Gauriganga Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 8,180. Gender wise, there were 4,144 males and 4,036 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was above 75 with total 712 population, which consistes of 323 males and 389 females. There were 56.77 % (31,399 ) of independent population, the working age people between ages of 15 and 64 years. The dependent children, ages below 15 years, were 38.69 % with total number of 21,401. The dependent elderly population, aged 65 and above were 4.54 % with total number of 2,514. There were only 30,935 people fully literate in Gauriganga Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 1,764 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 18,393 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Gauriganga Municipality, total 9,203 males and 9,190 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 7,399 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 2,984 male and 4,415 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 1.00 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.68.The CBS census also states that 172 males and 201 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 7,168 in Gauriganga Municipality with 3,534 (49.30%) of males and 3,634 (50.70%) females. There were total 49 schools. In average, 146 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Gauriganga is Doteli, which is spoken by 18,134 people. The Gauriganga has people who speak other languages, such as Tharu, Nepali, Achhami, Bajhangi, Magar, Bajureli, Raji, Kham, Maithili, Baitadeli, Darchuleli, Hindi, Tamang, Gurung, Assami, Sign Language, Bhojpuri, Urdu, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Gauriganga Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Tharu caste with total population of 16,740. There were as little as Chamar/Harijan/Ram caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Gauriganga are Chhetri, Kami, Brahmin - Hill, Magar, Thakuri, Damai/Dholi, Sarki, Lohar, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Raji, Badi, Newar, Tamang, Hajam/Thakur, Gurung, Kumal, Haluwai, Terai Others, Bangali, Muslim, Dalit Others, Koche, Rajbansi, Kurmi, Yadav, Brahmin - Tarai, Chamar/Harijan/Ram, Khawas, Kathbaniyan, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total population of 55,314, there were total 1,713 (3.10%) disabled persons in Gauriganga Municipality with 921 (53.77%) males and 792 (46.23%) females. The physically disabled persons were 729, while mentally disabled people were 127 and intellectually disabled were 29.
Similarly, there were 289 people who were blind and 279 people were deaf, while 27 people were both blind and deaf. Moreover, 129 persons had reported of having speech problems. Total 104 people had multiple disabilities.

Household Foundation
Out of total 10072 households in Gauriganga Municipality, there were 346 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 1,034 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 110 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 8,508houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 426 houses were mud bonded, 1,178 houses were cement bonded, 7,620 houses were wood planks bonded, 611 houses were bamboo bonded and 9 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 753 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 1,775 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 6,651 houses had roof of tile, 489 houses had RCC roofs, 241 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. As per 2011 CBS census, some of the houses had other types of roofs while some didn't report about the roof structure.

out of 10,072 households in Gauriganga Municipality, 1,353 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 8,548 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,296 establishments in Gauriganga Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,578 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,614 and female engagement of 964 persons.In every business, there were an average of 1.99 people engaged with average males are 1.25 and females are 0.74. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.67, which means as many as 1.67 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 62.61 percent while the females are 37.39 percent.
