Galyang is a Municipality, which is located in Syangja district, Gandaki Province of Nepal. Galyang has total 11 wards, which are scattered across 123 square kilometers of geographical area. According to 2011 Census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Galyang Municipality had total population of 36,967.
Wardwise Population and Households
As per 2011 population census, Galyang Municipality had total 37,809 population with 16,475 males and 21,334 females. Out of total wards, ward number 3 had the largest population 5,068, while ward number 10 had least number of population with 5,068.
With respect to number of households, Galyang Municipality had total 8,275 households. The ward number 3 had most households with total 1,254, while ward number 10 had least number of households with total 389 number of households.
As illustrated in the chart, the ratio of male to female population was 0.77, which indicates that Galyang Municipality had 23 percent lower males as compared to the females. In terms of age, the largest population in Galyang Municipality were between 10 and 14 years of age with total 5,461. Gender wise, there were 2,698 males and 2,763 females of the same age group. The least populated age group was between 70 and 74 with total 767 population, which consistes of 383 males and 384 females. Literacy, Education Levels & Schooling
There were only 27,215 people fully literate in Galyang Municipality as of 2011 who were able to both read and write, while 541 people were able to read but not write. In percentage while compared to genderwise population, there were inf percent of male were literate, while the percentage of female literacy was inf only.The literacy ratio between male and female population was nan.
Out of total 12,452 population between the age of 5 and 25 as of 2011 in Galyang Municipality, total 6,131 males and 6,321 females were attending the school. Same as, out of total 2,800 population of the same age group who were not attending the school, total 889 male and 1,911 female were not attending teh school. The ratio of male and female who were going to school was 0.97 while the ratio for those who were not attending the school was 0.47.The CBS census also states that 62 males and 94 females did not state whether they were attending school or not.

According to Nepal Government records as of 2017, there were total 4,015 in Galyang Municipality with 1,920 (47.82%) of males and 2,095 (52.18%) females. There were total 76 schools. In average, 53 students were studying in each school.

Population by Language Spoken
Mostly spoken language in Galyang is Nepali, which is spoken by 25,600 people. The Galyang has people who speak other languages, such as Magar, Newar, Gurung, Bhojpuri, Urdu, Tharu, Maithili, Hindi, Avadhi, etc.

According to 2011 census conducted by Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS), Galyang Municipality was inhabitted by mostly the people of Brahmin - Hill caste with total population of 16,628. There were as little as Hajam/Thakur caste with population of as little as 11 in total. People of several other castes who live in Galyang are Magar, Kami, Newar, Chhetri, Damai/Dholi, Gurung, Gharti/Bhujel, Sarki, Brahmin - Tarai, Muslim, Tharu, Majhi, Thakuri, Tamang, Sanyasi/Dashnami, Terai Others, Kumal, Thakali, Hajam/Thakur, etc. Only the population of castes with above 1,000 population are illustrated in the table.

Out of total 8275 households in Galyang Municipality, there were 6,903 houses that were founded on mud bonded while 621 houses were cement bonded. Same as, 482 households were reported of being founded on RCC piller, 212houses were founded on wood.
With respect to wall of the houses, 6,681 houses were mud bonded, 1,358 houses were cement bonded, 22 houses were wood planks bonded, 154 houses were bamboo bonded and 1 houses had unbaked bricks on their outer walls.Rest of the houses were reported of having other types of outer wall, while some of them reported nothing of having the outer wall bonding.
There were several types of house roofs reported. Total 1,983 houses were reported of having thatch roofs while 5,199 houses had galvanized roofs. Similarly, 65 houses had roof of tile, 991 houses had RCC roofs, 2 houses had roof of woods while 0 houses were reported having roof of mud. out of 8,275 households in Galyang Municipality, 576 houses reported of having no any facility in their household while 7,550 households reported of using at least one facility. Economic Census
According to 2018 Economic Census, there are total 1,086 establishments in Galyang Municipality that are involved in various economic activities. In those establishments, total 2,699 persons are engaged for the economic activities, as a self-employed or an employee, with total male engagement of 1,442 and female engagement of 1,257 persons.In every business, there were an average of 2.49 people engaged with average males are 1.33 and females are 1.16. The ratio of male to female engagement in the establishments are 1.15, which means as many as 1.15 males are enagement in the economic activities per female.
Similarly, the engagement of males were 53.43 percent while the females are 46.57 percent.
