In 2017 election of Gajuri Rural Municipality (Dhading district), candidate Rajendra Bikram Basnet of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,336 (46.96%) votes out of total votes of 9,233 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Ganesh Lal Shrestha of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 4,006 (29.52%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 891 (4.83) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sita Dhungana of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 4,214 (49.68%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sharmila Bisural of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,629 (28.58%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 639 (3.77) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 188 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 114 (60.64%) males and 74 (39.36%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 71 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 34 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
