In 2017 election of Gadhi Rural Municipality (Sunsari district), candidate Shree Prasad Yadav of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 5,052 (36.82%) votes out of total votes of 13,722 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Bir Narayan Chaudhary of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) who secured 4,064 (21.65%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 4,606 (16.78) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Raj Kumari Chaudhari of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 4,819 (35.90%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Lalo Tharuni of Madheshi Janaadhikar Form Nepal (Loktantrik) (MadheJFP (L)) secured 3,655 (20.04%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 4,949 (18.43) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 180 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 106 (58.89%) males and 74 (41.11%) females. Moreover, there were total 39 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 64 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 32 females and 32 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
