In 2017 election of Gadhawa Rural Municipality (Dang district), candidate Sahajram Ahir of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,677 (27.36%) votes out of total votes of 13,441 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Limakanta Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 3,304 (19.30%) of votes. The rest of 7 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 6,460 (24.03) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Shanti Chaudhary of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,535 (27.28%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Sakuntala D.c of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,430 (20.80%) of votes and came in second position. Other 5 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 5,994 (23.13) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 235 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 139 (59.15%) males and 96 (40.85%) females. Moreover, there were total 49 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 86 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 46 females and 38 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
