In 2017 election of Dungeshwor Rural Municipality (Dailekh district), candidate Nagendra Bahadur Malla of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,787 (45.85%) votes out of total votes of 6,079 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Man Bahadur Bista of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 2,469 (27.85%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 823 (6.77) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Sita Gyawali of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,628 (43.09%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Kalawati Neupane of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,618 (30.00%) of votes and came in second position. Other 4 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 853 (6.99) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 122 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 71 (58.20%) males and 51 (41.80%) females. Moreover, there were total 24 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 6 wards. Same as, total 46 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 21 females and 19 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
