In 2017 election of Dogdakedar Rural Municipality (Baitadi district), candidate Chakra Bahadur Karki of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,149 (38.73%) votes out of total votes of 8,131 and was elected as a Chairman. The first runner-up candidate was Tara Singh Kunwar of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 2,791 (24.74%) of votes. The rest of 3 candidates for the position of Chairman secured combined 2,191 (13.47) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Vice-Chairman, candidate Parbati Karki of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,217 (39.77%) and was elected as a Vice-Chairman, while Laxmi Od of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 2,296 (20.31%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Vice-Chairman secured combined 2,577 (15.93) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 167 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 103 (61.68%) males and 64 (38.32%) females. Moreover, there were total 34 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 8 wards. Same as, total 64 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 31 females and 29 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
