In 2017 election of Dhunibeshi Municipality (Dhading district), candidate Bal Krishna Acharya of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,664 (44.10%) votes out of total votes of 15,112 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Dipak Lamichhane of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) who secured 4,335 (19.91%) of votes. The rest of 5 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 4,113 (13.61) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Niru Kharel of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 6,629 (44.06%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Sabitri Acharya of Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) (CPN (M)) secured 4,341 (20.03%) of votes and came in second position. Other 3 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 4,075 (13.54) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 165 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 106 (64.24%) males and 59 (35.76%) females. Moreover, there were total 40 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 58 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 29 females and 26 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
