In 2017 election of Dhorpatan Municipality (Baglung district), candidate Dev Kumar Nepali of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,692 (35.02%) votes out of total votes of 7,687 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Arjun Sherchan of Nepali Congress Party (NC) who secured 1,946 (18.75%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 3,049 (19.83) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Karmati Pun Magar of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 2,079 (28.74%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Dilmaya Pau. B of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 2,019 (21.68%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 3,137 (21.68) of votes.
As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 198 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 116 (58.59%) males and 82 (41.41%) females. Moreover, there were total 39 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 74 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 38 females and 37 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
