In 2017 election of Dharmadevi Municipality (Sankhuwasabha district), candidate Ramesh Kumar Jimi of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,929 (51.98%) votes out of total votes of 7,558 and was elected as a Mayor. The first runner-up candidate was Bhim Bahadur Linkha of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) who secured 3,070 (26.73%) of votes. The rest of 4 candidates for the position of Mayor secured combined 559 (3.70) of votes.
Similarly, for the position of Deputy Mayor, candidate Shobha Ghimire of Nepali Congress Party (NC) secured 3,510 (47.68%) and was elected as a Deputy Mayor, while Som Kumari Raya (budhathoki) of Nepal Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) (CPN (UML)) secured 3,108 (28.59%) of votes and came in second position. Other 2 candidates who contested for Deputy Mayor secured combined 743 (5.05) of votes.

As illustrated in the pie chart, there were total 164 candidates contested in various positions with gender ratio of 97 (59.15%) males and 67 (40.85%) females. Moreover, there were total 35 candidates contested for ward chairman positions in 9 wards. Same as, total 60 candidates had contested for ward member positions while 31 females and 28 females from depressed group (dalit) had contested for female member position in each ward.
